Description

This vintage terracotta clay pot dates back to the 1950s, it’s a primitive terracotta vessel with a deeply aged grey surface and a rounder fuller body. Hand-shaped by artisans from local rural Shanxi clay, the wider shape gives it an earthy grounded presence in any space. Our antique clay pots were once used to store grains, vinegar and fermented foods main staples of a centuries-old culinary culture in Shanxi.

This particular terracotta pot has dark tones with layered surface markings as a result of decades of use. The patina is raw and uneven in the best way possible.

Works as a standalone piece or with dried stems. Adds depth to any rustic and wabi-sabi interiors.

Care & materials

Made from Terracotta Clay. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent build-up. Handle gently vintage terracotta can be fragile. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth using plain cold water. Use as little water as possible terracotta is porous and absorbs moisture easily. Dry immediately and thoroughly with a soft cloth after any contact with water
