Description

This antique clay pot dates from the 1950s, a primitive terracotta vessel with a deeply aged grey surface and a fuller, rounder body than most. Hand-formed from clay, the wider shape gives it an earthy, grounded feel. These antique clay pots were once used to store grains, vinegar and fermented foods main staples of a centuries-old culinary culture in Shanxi.

It has dark tones, and the layered surface markings are the result of decades of use. The patina is raw and uneven in the best way no two pots have aged identically.

Works as a standalone piece or with dried stems. Adds depth to neutral, rustic and wabi-sabi interiors.
